Summer Reading:

Wednesdays: June 9th-July 14th, 2021

The next Women of Valor book is The Book of Longings by Sue Monk Kidd. We will meet in person outside at the Hicks’s house on August 3rd at 6:30pm to discuss. If you’d like a copy or more info, please contact Kari at kari.baumann@gmail.com. Copies will also be available at the church in early June.

 

The new book has arrived! This summer the MMO Book Group will read Squeeze Me by Carl Hiaasen. There are copies available in the church office or you can get a copy directly from Michael. The discussion for this book is scheduled for sometime in August. If you have questions, please contact Michael, michaelusey@gmail.com.

 

Our church-wide summer reading is My Vanishing Country by Bakari Sellers. Copies will be available at the church soon! Book discussions will happen on Wednesday nights beginning June 9 and going the next 6 weeks until July 14, 6:30–7:45. We will meet in the chapel.  Folks can bring food if they want to eat dinner while we discuss. We will provide bottle water!

     The CP walkers choose a new route in Greensboro every week! Email Brian Mass at BMaas@ecslimited.com to get updates on our walking routes! Please wear a mask and practice social distancing during the walk. The walk is for all paces, no one will be left behind.

Mondays

6:00 pm Zumba

     Come join us on Monday evenings at 6pm in the church parking lot for an hour of laughing and dancing yourself into shape. The instructor is phenomenal; the friends are fantastic!!! Classes are only $3 each time!

Wednesdays

  • 6:30 pm Summer Reading Church-wide Book Study 

We will meet at 6:30pm in the chapel to discuss our summer all-church read, My Vanishing Country by Bakari Sellers. If you’d like to borrow a copy from the church, we will have some available in the church office this week. If you’d like to support one of our local book stores, Scuppernong Books has several copies in stock now and will sell you a copy at a 10% discount. Just tell them you are reading with College Park Church. Discussions for the all-church read began June 9 and will be held in the chapel on Wednesday nights, 6:30 – 7:45 pm.

  • 7:45 pm Virtual Choir Meeting

Whether you are currently involved in choir or just curious, you are welcome to join this meeting! If you are not on the choir email list, please email Mike Eller at mike.eller3@gmail.com to get the zoom link.

 

Summer for the Kids

A+ Kids Theatre Camp
 
A+ Kids Theatre will host its 2021 Summer Camp at College Park during the following weeks:
 
Session 1: June 21-24
Session 2: June 28-1
Session 3: July 19-22
Session 4: July 26-29
 
Camp runs 9 am – 2 pm, M-Th of each session – and cost is $115/camper.

Summer Adventure Days for rising 3rd – current 5th graders
 
Saturday, June 26 @ 10 – 3 pm
Creative Art Day led by Jennifer Creef. Jennifer is a GCS middle school art teacher who has worked with our older kids before. We will be doing a community circle project (https://communitycircleproject.com) under her direction. We will also have an opportunity for kids to make kindness rocks they can leave wherever they’d like over the summer.
 
Saturday, July 17 @ 10 – 3 pm
This will be a Day of Service We’ll start by baking cookies in the church kitchen and making cards for some of our older College Park members. We are also trying to organize some volunteer work through the Out of the Garden project.
 
Saturday, August 7 @ 10 – 3 pm
This will be a fun day of games and swimming. More details to come later.
