Youth: Grades 6-12

Youth meet weekly on Sundays evenings!!

College Park Youth Group is an open and safe place where youth, grades 6-12, can explore together the difficult questions of life, faith and God. Read the Q&A about our CP Youth Ministry.

Sunday Morning Gatherings, 9:45am

Our Youth Sunday School classes meet at 9:45am on Sunday mornings. Guided by the fresh and creative insight of the class leaders, the youth explore familiar stories of our faith in a way that both encourages a critical, mature reading of biblical texts and keeps discussions about God and faith relevant to the experiences and culture of youth. We now have a 6th-7th grade class and a High School Sunday School class.

Sunday Evening Gatherings, 5:30 – 7:00pm

The youth group meets on Sunday nights, 5:30 – 7:00pm. This time together includes a group dinner provided by the parents of our youth members. Activities following dinner include spirituality and worship, games, discussions, community outreach, or group outings.

Lin Story-Bunce leads this group with a number of other adults from our community who value our youth and who give enthusiastically of their time and energy to the program.

A typical schedule for our Sunday night gatherings is as follows:

  • 4:45-5:30pm – Youth Choir (starting in October)
  • 5:30pm – Youth Dinner
  • 6:00 – 7:00pm – Holy Chaos

Other Trips and Gatherings

The youth will participate in a variety of gatherings and trips throughout the year. Some of these trips include curriculum and structure while others are more relaxed. The main purpose of each of theses occasions is to provide the youth with more opportunities to be together outside of our church setting.

Our annual summer trip is the favorite and most anticipated trip each year. Trips like these are essential because they bring together all the elements that are essential for nurturing our youth: worship, discipleship/service, communion, fellowship, grace and forgiveness, and holy trouble-making. No matter what our theme, morning devotions and evening worship guide our youth in exploring their ideas about who God is, who Jesus is, and what our faith means for our everyday life. We often ponder the question “where did you see God today?”
