Baptismal Statements

Grant Kirkman’s Baptismal Statement

College Park Baptist Church has been a part of all my life.  I’ve been happy to have all these people here to help me understand more about God such as Lin and the other youth leaders.  I also learned some things from my past Sunday school teachers and really appreciated learning about God through my old music teacher, Christian.  Learning about baptism means that you are being put in the hands of God who will care for you whenever you need it the most.  Baptism also means spreading the word about God to both people you know and people you’ve never met.

Being baptized doesn’t mean you will be perfect, it just means you will try to do better.  It also means you are the one who has to want to do better with God’s help.  This is the point in my life where I want to show the church that I’m a Christian and I want to follow Jesus.  Being baptized lets people know that I want to follow God.

Sometimes being a Christian means that I don’t always have things go my way but I hope things work out the way they are supposed to.  I know I will have to sacrifice some of the things I want to do so I can help other people with what they need. It also means I have to put my needs aside and not take credit for everything that I do.  But being a Christian makes me feel happy about some of those things and not thinking just about myself.

I want to be baptized with my brother because I think it’s a special memory we will share forever.  I also want to share as many memories with him as possible before he goes off to college.  I love my brother and want to cherish this memory of being baptized with him so it will be with me for as long as I live.

I look forward to continuing to be part of this church family and also part of the larger Christian family.
