Table for 7 – 2018
Get better acquainted with other College Park adults. Table for 7 is a small-group dining experience that helps you get to know other College Park members and visitors. When you sign up, you (or you and your significant other) will be assigned to a group with 5 or 6 other people. Members of the group pick a place and time to meet (usually for a meal) at least once during that quarter, though hopefully you’ll find time to meet a few times. College Park Bake-Off, March 4th
The 24th annual Bake-Off will be Sunday, March 4, 2018. The prizes will again be Liberty bottles. The 2018 theme is Back Row Double Feature: The Bake-Off Goes to the Movies. See 2017 Bake-Off Photos! Immediately following worship on Sunday, March 4, everyone is invited to a simple lunch of soup and sandwiches in the Fellowship Hall. Afterwards, we’ll sample all the bake-off entries. Zumba Update
There are now two Zumba classes each week at College Park: Monday nights at 6:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall taught by Ebonet Jeffcoat who has previously taught at DayStar Church. The cost per class is $3.00. Tuesday nights at 6:00 pm in the Chapel taught by Brisa Castillo. The cost is $5.00 per class or commit to five classes and save $5.00 (5 classes card for only $20). 2017 Angel Trees
Angel Trees will support three groups this Advent season – Peck Elementary School, ARFP (Animal Rescue & Foster Program of Greensboro), and AngelTree.org, a ministry of Prison Fellowship that provides gifts to children whose parents are incarcerated. Girl Scout Project: Prayer Room
THANK YOU to Girl Scouts Addison Coughlin, Maddie Billings and Sophie McKinney for giving the College Park Church Prayer Room a big makeover as their Silver Project. The room was dedicated on September 10, 2017. Before The small room on the third floor has been transformed into a meditative spot. Pray below the wooden cross or post prayer requests on the board. In my new position at College Park, I very much look forward to directing the Handbell Choir and the Children’s Choir, helping to coordinate our Instrumental Music Ministry program, and assisting with Children’s and Young Adult Ministry programs. Operation Bed Roll – Homeless Project
Conserve, Crochet, Care Operation Bed Roll is a collaboration between Greensboro’s Field Operations and Police departments to keep unrecyclable materials out of our landfills – and help some of our neediest residents have a safe place to sleep. Operation Bed Roll aims to transform thousands of plastic grocery bags into “plarn,” or plastic bag yarn used to create crocheted sleeping mats that provide an insulated barrier for those who sleep on the ground. Greensboro Recycling Educator Tori Carle trains residents how to make the plarn and Greensboro police officers will distribute the mats to the homeless throughout the winter.
